There is an exclusive interview of Er. Jayanta Das, C.E.M., B.Tech, IITD & MBA (UK), Senior General Manager of India Trade Promotion Organization, New Delhi on ITPO’s first ever business event, India Show in the beautiful capital of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat. He says, “people of Turkmenistan are basically Indophiles, they love Indian films and culture”.

CBA: Global perception towards India is changing fast. How you explain role of trade events in this aspect?

Jaynta Das: India is an emerging economy in the world. There is a gradual change in global perception about India, which is attracting substantial FDI in diverse sectors. Besides, the rapid adoption of digital technology across various sectors through business process engineering, technology and data analytics is reshaping the way government programmes are being designed and implemented under  able leader of  the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi and his team. The trade promotion events  play a vital catalytic role in  integrating   socio-economic  arena  and boosting the domestic as well as foreign trade. n Robust performance by Indian  manufacturing, construction and service sectors and good farm output pushed India’s January-March 2018 GDP growth to a seven-quarter high of 7.7 per cent, helping it retain the fastest growing major economy tag.

CBA: Alongwith global trade promotion activities, why holding exclusive ‘India Show’ in Turkmenistan is significant?

JD: Fulfilling aspirations of Indian Business Fraternity, ITPO is organizing India’s  first  exclusive  expo, the   India  Show, at prestigious CCIT, Chandybil Avenue, Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, from  August 14 to 17, 2018. The event comprises of initial three day multi-brands exhibition while the last day has been earmarked for an exclusive networking event, business forum and a seminar on strengthen bi-lateral trade relations between India and Turkmenistan.  Aiming  to  promote  ‘Brand  India’, this multi-product  show    aims to provide support and business opportunities to Indian companies including SMEs in Turkmen as  well  as  neighboring  CIS markets.

CBA: The idea of holding ‘India Show’ seems to be follow -up of the visit of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India in Turkmenistan in July 2015. Please explain?

JD: Significantly, the event is being organized in the backdrop of India’s growing bilateral trade relations with Turkmenistan after the visit the  Hon’ble  Prime   Minister  of   India, Shri  Narendra Modi  in   Turkmenistan in  July 2015 which was further followed by the visit of H.E. Mr Rashid Meredov, Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan during August 13-15, 2017. He was accompanied by a high power Turkmen delegation in the sixth session of the India-Turkmenistan Inter-Governmental Commission (IGC) on trade, economic and science & technology cooperation held on August 14, 2017 wherein the proposal for holding exclusive India Show in Turkmenistan was accepted.

CBA: Why should Indian entrepreneurs participate in ‘India Show’, Turkmenistan?

JD: The India Show in Ashgabat offers fresh opportunities to the business community as it is an unexplored destination for Indians. There is win- win position for both exporters and importers. Efforts are being made to extend invitations to the business delegations not only from Turkmenistan and other CIS countries. Besides, the Union of Turkmenistan Entrepreneur and Chamber of Commerce have also assured support in terms of forwarding invitation to their valued members for the fair.

CBA: What will be the major attractions in ‘India Show’?

JD: Apart from country specific display of a wide range Indian products and services, a brain storming seminar,  business networking event, fashion shows and cultural programmes will be the added attractions during India Show.

CBA: ITPO is implementing world class IECC project at Pragati Maidan. Please give details?

JD: Fulfilling aspirations of global MICE industry, ITPO is implementing its premium project of redevelopment of its exhibition complex Pragati Maidan in New Delhi as a world class International Exhibition- cum- Convention Centre (IECC). It will be a landmark and iconic spot in Delhi and a symbol of the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘New India’ in sync. with India aspiring to be a global power. IECC will mainly cater to G2G, G2B, and B2B activities. With the latest architectural designs along with basement parking for 4,800 vehicles and comprehensive traffic decongestion interventions, it will add to the grandeur, stature and profits of the capital city of Delhi project.
